Weekend Getaway
Last weekend was our first time leaving Isabelle! We went down to Charleston for a friend's wedding (with the cake, of course!) - a special treat for me and Brian especially since that's where Brian came down to visit me during our "courtship". We haven't been back to Charleston together quite enough since I lived there while attending Johnson and Wales about 7 years ago, so it wasn't too hard leaving Isabelle with her grandparents for a nice getaway.
Isabelle is always making lots of hand gestures...
But, we weren't quite ready for this one!
Leave it to Uncle Matt to for sharing this priceless moment with us. That's our sweet little girl!
On our way out of town we dropped off this groom's cake - a vintage football themed cake for well known Charlotte high school football coach, Bruce Hardin.
We made it down just in time to drop off the cake and check out Middleton Place, where we were staying.
Complimentary drinks served when we got to the Inn...just one of the reasons we liked this place!
Very cool architecture.

Our view of Ashley River. Beautiful!
Time to get ready for the wedding! When packing for the weekend I felt really deflated when I looked in my closet and found nothing fun to wear. I'm not much of a shopper and often rely on my fashion forward mom (you like that, mom?!) to dress me. Once again, she came to my rescue and helped me accessorize my simple black dress with a her funky necklace and red patent leather heels! Moms are the best!
Unfortunately we didn't get any pics at the wedding of the absolutely gorgeous bride, Cameron and her handsome new husband, Chan. It was an awesome evening and we had a blast. Maybe a little too much fun...this was the only (iphone) picture we ended up with. Apparently we thought it was funny how "over-served" we were. I wasn't laughing Sunday morning.
Sunday we explored the grounds at Middleton Place. Look who we ran into!
One of the oldest live oaks in the area...huge!

Sunday we spent the day strolling down King Street and through downtown Charleston. Up until then I hadn't really thought too much about Isabelle (well, if you don't count looking at her pictures on Bri's phone every other hour), but after walking by stroller after stroller of precious babies that looked to be exactly 8 months, I started really missing my own little one! I'm not sure I would have been happy about one more day without little Isabelle in my arms!
Sunday we explored the grounds at Middleton Place. Look who we ran into! That night we did go out for a fancy meal at a new restaurant, Husk. I thought the serving plates (carved wood bowls) were extra cool so I took a really bad picture of the meal here (trout with pea and mushroom risotto):
And after dinner we enjoyed a romantic evening together watching Charlie Sheen YouTube Videos. I know...it is so sad, but also really funny. Duh!
We came home and got full reports (and pictures) - it sounded like Isabelle had a great time with her grandparents (both my and Brian's parents shared her!). Aw, look at my sweet babies frolicking in the grass together with their Grandmommy!
