Glenora

Summer's not officially over until I've done a quick recap of my most coveted days of summer, those spent in upstate New York on one of the beautiful Finger Lakes, Seneca Lake.

I have no desire to recap our road trip up there.  13 hours in a car with a 20 month old who would only sleep in 20 minute increments (and not many of those).  My brother was a saint to go with us.  Let's just erase it from our minds.

The truth is that if we're talking weather, it was one of the worst summers I can remember.  If we're talking level of relaxation, well…..not so sure that can be in the vocabulary.  If we're talking happiness on a scale of 1 to 10, that is always at a 10 for me in Glenora.  Even with the rain and the clouds, the cold water and the busy, busy toddler.

Out of 2 weeks spent up there, we only had about 3 good lake days.  And that was pushing it.  But we made the most of our time, and being with family, having all meals cooked for me and having very little work is a recipe for a great vacation.  Brian joined us for the last weekend and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny lake day during his time up there.

I couldn't seem to enforce a life jackets only rule at the dock, so this child of mine kept my heart racing and required a body guard at all times!

One of the best activities at the lake is making fairy houses!

Water was cold this summer, but we got in!

God I adore this child, as exhausting as he might be!

It's not a summer in Glenora without some amazing cloud views.

What happened to my little toddler!??

So in love with this face.

The iPad came in handy at times.  Granddaddy's favorite toy for sure.

A visit to the blueberry patch!
Blueberries are Collier's favorite food, so this was like striking gold for him!

Could eat him alive.
Not a summer without S'mores.  Collier's first time and he approved.

Sharing is caring.

What's that?  A glass of wine in my hand?
Ok, so maybe I did relax a little.

Isabelle is endlessly fascinated by this tree with a face.  She asked to see if as soon as we arrived.  A little worried, but doesn't stop her from swinging from Mr. Tree's arm!

This kid looks just like his Uncle Matt!

Snuggles on a cool morning.
Hail to the Queen!

Best reason for coming to Glenora is to see my kids and my parents together.  Not much makes me happier and more thankful!

And speaking of happy, thankful and grandparents…I never wrote a post about our Barksdale Beach week.  Instead I made a slideshow since pictures are worth a thousand words!
