The Greatest Gift
She is my mom.
She is my teacher, my nurse, my listener and my counselor. She is my chef and my personal shopper, my stylist, my interior decorator and my opinionator. She is my business assistant and my cake delivery buddy, my babysitter and dogsitter. She is the person I laugh with often and the one I've cried with most. She knows me better than anyone else in the world does and now I know that she is the person who loves me more than anyone else does. That's because now I'm a mom too.

Before I even saw her face, the first words my husband said ("It's a girl!"), just after the birth of our first child, sent me over the moon. The mere thought that one day she might consider me her best friend (as I do with my mom) fills me with such joy! My own mother was there beside me the very moment that I became a mom. That is when I fully understood how much she loves me. And since that day I have learned that there is no love greater than the love for your child.
I always knew that my mom would do anything for me. I turn to her often and she is always there for me.
Motherhood has been the greatest gift I could ever wish for. Since the birth of Isabelle I have never smiled and laughed more in my life. Every emotion I feel is magnified at least 100 times now that I am a mom. My heart is so full that sometimes I think it might burst.Part of my happiness as a mom is seeing my mom become a grandmother. Here all this time I thought I was the love of her life...it turns out I have some competition!
On my first mother's day I am so grateful for the gift of motherhood! If I can be half the mother my mom has been to me, then I know Isabelle is a very lucky daughter. Thanks, Mom, for being my very best friend!
"A daughter is a mother's gender partner, her closest ally in the family confederacy, an extension of her self. And mothers are their daughters' role model, their biological and emotional road map, the arbiter of all their relationships." --Victoria Secunda
