Dog Love

Almost 4 years ago I met my first baby and I had a hard time believing I could ever love a human baby more than I loved her! Everyone who knows me well knows that my obsession with Crockett has not wavered, even since the birth of Isabelle. And now that there's a new baby in my life who I obsess over even more, Crockett doesn't get all of my attention, but she's still always in the picture.
Crockett is part of most daily activities with Isabelle...walking next to the stroller, cooling off in the baby pool, even "sharing" toys. Just today I watched Isabelle crawl up to Crockett and rest her head against her belly. Then she stole her ball and threw it across the room (well, not quite that far!)...she is always instigating Crockett and inviting her to play. Crockett always gets back at her...this evening I found a chewed up beach shovel in the yard.

And of course Crockett is the sweetest, most loving "sis" to Isabelle. Since day 1, she has been so gentle and even accepting of this new love in my life. I never worry about the two of them together...even when Isabelle tries to test Crockett's limits. Her favorite thing to do is "help" Crockett eat her dinner. Of course Isabelle loves to play in her water bowl (after endless attempts to prevent this, I just gave up), and the first time that I found her sticking her hands in the food bowl while Crockett was chowing down, I immediately ran over to intervene. But that didn't keep Isabelle from trying again, and again. Now it has become her ritual. Crockett doesn't seem to mind! Oops, don't forget the one that fell out! My outdoor lover...even in the brutal heat. We celebrated Betsy Grace's 2nd birthday last weekend and it was so fun seeing the cousins play together. BG is a chatterbox and I can't wait for "Illasol" (that's how she pronounces "Isabelle")to start talking back...what entertainment we are in for!

I can already tell Isabelle idolizes her older cousin.

Betsy Grace decided to feed her some goldfish. Open wide! Sweet Sutton...a complete angel. I decided to decorate BG's cake with one of her favorites...Elmo!! My latest wedding cake... Now for more dog love.

Here's the process of making a bulldog shaped groom's cake. Not just any bulldog. Beloved "Uga." I had to make it right since Uga has lots of fans. The cake sculpting is always the most nerve-racking...this is my "stress face". Yummy chocolate cake with chocolate Italian meringue buttercream and ganache filling. Ta-da!
